I going to be completely upfront and say that I don’t get the Terrarian. I mean, I get the whole connection to the video game Terraria, but I don’t get the yo-yo as a yo-yo. The design looks so odd to me, although from what I understand it was the game’s developer that came up with the design and not One Drop. I did try one just a few days ago and it seems OK to toss, although not enough for me to jump on that hype train. Then again, I really do appreciate the hype that the Terrarian is bringing because it is bringing along a bunch of new throwers into the community, and that is a great thing to see.
Anyway, Chris Rhoads over at High Speed YoYo published Terrarian review a few days ago, and if you are curious to hear more about this new yo-yo from One Drop then I recommend giving it a read. Here is a quick excerpt:
“I know many are looking at the size and weight of the Terrarian and immediately writing it off. That would be a mistake. While it is wide, it is not unwieldy during play. It can still weave through strings in some of the tighter combos without an issue. Tricks like Black Hops are still quite easy to pull off.”
